Flexion-rotation mechanism	Hyperflexion mechanism
Less than 25% of the AP dimension of the body.	Angular deformity with subluxation of the superior VB: >25%
Patients may or may not have an SCI	Most frequently associated w/ SCI
Radicular injury-producing focal weakness, numbness, or radicular pain	Highly unstable injury
CR (If possible) & Fusion or Halow	CR(Avoid overdistraction) & surgical stabilization

AP : anteroposterior

SCI : Spinal cord injury

CR : Closed reduction
