| Flexion-rotation mechanism | Hyperflexion mechanism |
| Less than 25% of the AP dimension of the body. | Angular deformity with subluxation of the superior VB: >25% |
| Patients may or may not have an SCI | Most frequently associated w/ SCI |
| Radicular injury-producing focal weakness, numbness, or radicular pain | Highly unstable injury |
| CR (If possible) & Fusion or Halow | CR(Avoid overdistraction) & surgical stabilization |
AP : anteroposterior
SCI : Spinal cord injury
CR : Closed reduction
